HATCH act and the 2012 Amendment

This question is from someone's personal blog page on Facebook. We've copied the question exactly as it was posted. We felt this question directly pertained to me since I'm the only one employed by the Laramie County Sheriff's Department and running for Sheriff. Another candidate answered what the HATCH act was about so my answer addressed the fact that I can run for sheriff, while working at the Sheriff's Department, due to the 2012 amendment to this act. If you would like to know the details, you can find them at https://osc.gov/Services/Pages/HatchAct.aspx or contact me and I would be happy to discuss it with you.
Question: I would like to know the candidates interpretation of the HATCH act law and how it applies to current employees of the Laramie County Sheriff Department?
My answer: Good morning, the Hatch Act is a topic I am very familiar with. Prior to announcing my bid for sheriff, I conducted my own research and consulted with an attorney to ensure that my interpretation of the 2012 amendment to the Act was correct. The amendment does allow for an employee of the Sheriff's Department to run in a partisan election.
